At GradWalk, we provide comprehensive coaching for the Duolingo English Test (DET), an innovative assessment designed to evaluate your proficiency in English. The DET is divided into two primary sections:

1. Adaptive Test

The Adaptive Test is a 45-minute section featuring a variety of question types. Its adaptive nature means that the difficulty of questions adjusts based on your responses. This section includes:

  • Read and Select: Choose the correct option to complete a sentence.
  • Listen and Select: Select the right option based on an audio clip.
  • Listen and Type: Type out what you hear from an audio clip.
  • Read Aloud: Read a sentence out loud.
  • Listen, then Speak: Listen to a sentence and then repeat it.
  • Read and Write: Read a sentence and then write it out.
  • Speak About the Photo: Describe a photo in up to 30 seconds.
  • Write About the Photo: Write about a photo for up to 3 minutes.

2. Writing and Speaking Sample

This 10-minute section features open-ended prompts where you are required to respond in both writing and speaking. Your responses are shared with institutions as part of your score. The tasks include:

  • Speaking Sample: Discuss a given topic for up to 3 minutes.
  • Writing Sample: Write about a given topic for up to 5 minutes.
