Visit the Canada with a Standard Visitor Visa

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for a visitor visa to Canada, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Financial Proof: You must demonstrate sufficient funds for the entire duration of your stay in Canada. The required amount depends on the number of family members traveling. For example, a single applicant needs a minimum of CAD 12,960, while a family of five requires CAD 27,315. For each additional family member beyond five, an extra CAD 3,492 is needed.
  • Employment Restrictions: Applicants are not permitted to undertake any employment during their stay.
  • Criminal Record: You must have no previous criminal record or issues with law enforcement.
  • Temporary Resident Visa: A valid temporary resident visa is required.

Required Documents

To apply for a Canadian visitor visa, you will need to provide:

  • Evidence of ties to your home country to demonstrate your intention to return.
  • Proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay in Canada.
  • If staying with family or friends, an invitation letter from your host.
  • A valid visa with a minimum validity of six months.
  • A medical clearance certificate, if required.

Applying Process

You can apply for a Canadian visitor visa either online or offline. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Choose Application Method: Opt for either the online application process or apply in person.
  2. Pay Fees: Pay the visa processing fee via a certified cheque or bank draft. The fee for a single entry visa is CAD 75, while a multiple entry visa costs CAD 150. A biometric fee of CAD 80 also applies.
  3. Visit Visa Application Center: Go to the nearest Canadian visa application center with your passport, photographs, and all required documents.
  4. Biometrics and Photo: Provide your biometrics and a photograph.
  5. Submit Application: Submit your completed visa application form at the center.
  6. Receipt and Tracking: Obtain a receipt with a unique tracking number and use this number to track your application online.

  • Multiple Entry Visa: CAD 150
  • Biometric Fee: CAD 80

Note: The cost for a money order, which is required for the fee payment, is CAD 1.15.

Processing Time

  • Tourist Visa: Typically processed within 15 days if documentation is complete.
  • Business Visa: Takes approximately 1 to 6 weeks.
  • Temporary Resident Visa: Usually processed within 16 to 20 days.
